presence

The video performance “Presence” develops the photographic project “Stories of Everyday Life” and attempts to transfer my painterly method into the medium of film. I continue the gesture of repetition, destruction and reconstruction, cutting and reassembling – this time by recording movement and sound. I seek to speak about time, flattening it onto the surface of the screen. At the center remains my own presence and everyday life, which become the main field of artistic exploration.

On a chosen day I record short sequences with a phone camera – from waking up until falling asleep. The recordings are made at 15–30 minute intervals, forming a series of 64 shots presented simultaneously. The camera is directed
at myself, allowing chance to become a co‑creator of the work. I do not build a narrative nor do I establish hierarchies of moments – each has equal value, whether routine or exceptional.

In this way an animated self‑portrait emerges – a map of everyday life that remains open
and is periodically enriched with new frames. I use commonly available equipment and simple editing tools, drawing inspiration from amateur films.
